State Testing Information
State Testing is coming soon! Please note that we will begin testing each morning by 8:15am and need all students in place by that time. Students will follow their normal lunch schedule on testing dates.
From Mrs. Lindsay Christofaro, our WES Testing Coordinator.
Dear Parents/Guardians,
In the upcoming weeks, we will begin our end-of-year SC READY testing for 3rd-5th grade. The South Carolina College- and Career-READY Assessment (SC READY) is a statewide assessment in English Language Arts (ELA- divided into three separate parts), mathematics (two sections), and science (4th grade only).
- All students, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners (MLs), must participate in testing with the appropriate accommodations (if necessary) except for those students who qualify for the South Carolina Alternate Assessment (SC-Alt), as defined by their IEP team.
SC READY tests are not timed (estimated 2 ½ hours each day). Some students take most of the day to complete tests. The testing schedule at Wateree Elementary will be as follows: We will begin no later than 8:15a.m. each day. Lunch is at its normal time. NOTE: Late arrivals will not test with their class. They will be tested as soon as we can get to them, but they could be placed in makeup testing.
Tues. April 28 & Wed. Apr. 29 ELA Reading Part A & B /GRADES 3rd, 4th & 5th (online/computer)
Fri., May 1 ELA Writing/GRADES 3rd, 4th & 5th (online/computer)

More information about SC READY Assessment can be found at the South Carolina Department of Education website: http://ed.sc.gov/instruction/standards-learning/. Standards outline what schools are expected to teach and what students are expected to learn. Academic standards also include indicators that are statements of the specific cognitive processes and the content knowledge and skills that students must demonstrate to meet the grade-level standards.
The SC READY Parent and Guardian Information letter was sent home to parents a few weeks ago. Please take the time to review those with your child. SC Ready test results will provide vital information regarding how your child is progressing at his/her grade level. Please make sure that your child gets adequate sleep and has a good breakfast on testing days to ensure a successful testing experience. Parents are encouraged to have their children to school on time and avoid making appointments for their children on these dates. If your child is currently being served under an IEP (Individual Education Plan) or 504, they will receive the accommodations listed under state and district assessment. Students may not be in possession of an electronic cell phone, smartwatch, smart glasses, earbuds or any other electronic device that can be used for communicating, recording, timing, creating images, or storing images during testing. If a student has one, the infraction will result in a district hearing. Devices must be off and in bookbags. If you have any questions, please call Lindsay Christofaro at 438-8018.
Sincerely,
Lindsay Christofaro
